Our Story
Where Every Woman Finds Her Footing
Second Story was born from a belief that recovery is not just about staying sober — it is about building a life worth living.
Our Story
The Story Behind Second Story
Second Story began with a simple but powerful question: what does a woman in recovery truly need to succeed? Not just a bed and a curfew — but a real home. A community. A place where she can breathe, heal, and begin to imagine her future.
Second Story was created to fill a gap in transitional housing — offering women in recovery a structured, compassionate environment that honors their dignity and supports their growth at every stage of the journey.
The name says it all. The first story is what brought you here. The second story is the one you get to write.
What We Stand For
Our Values
Dignity
Every woman who walks through our doors is treated with respect, compassion, and the belief that she is capable of extraordinary things.
Community
Healing happens in relationship. We cultivate a house culture of honesty, support, and genuine sisterhood.
Accountability
Structure and boundaries are acts of love. We hold each other to the commitments that make recovery possible.
Hope
No matter where a woman has been, we believe her best chapter is still ahead of her.
The Founders
Marnie Priest & Jacob Reese
Co-Founders, Second Story
Marnie Priest and Jacob Reese co-founded Second Story with a shared conviction: that every woman deserves a safe, supportive place to rebuild her life. Driven by personal experience with the recovery community and a deep commitment to service, they built Second Story to be the kind of home they believe every woman deserves — no matter where she comes from or what she has been through. A place where women are met with compassion, held to loving accountability, and empowered to step fully into their second story.
